The second leg of our initial trip begins our progression north. The route has six stops planned, including our first attempt at boondocking. As planned the distance is approximately 1200 miles, end to end.
Our travel takes us right through the heart of the plains states. This is the heart of American farm land and we see many unimaginably huge fields. Seemingly every inch of Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado we pass through is farmland! Cultivated fields extend for many MILES, extending beyond what the eyes can see!
We opted to use Google Maps heading out of Nebraska and that "choice" provided costly as we spend several hours on dirt roads, crawling along and praying that we not get stuck or break anything. We made it, but we also learn a powerful lesson from that experience! Google will send you through cornfields if it saves an inch!
This trip ends in the badlands, South Dakota. Here we visit Mount Rushmore, Wind Caves National Park, Jewel Caves National Monument, and the beautiful Bandlands National Park!
